Henderson County Public Schools District Level Library Media and Digital Learning
Mills River, NC
I have been spellbound by the art of the story for as long as I can remember. It led me to write and read constantly as a child and ultimately drew me away from veterinary medicine and into literature and teaching instead. I spent my first eight years teaching Language Arts and Science as well as being an Academically Gifted Specialist. My own story took a turn after that and an influential librarian is totally guilty for luring me into Library Science. After fourteen years as a school library media coordinator, the opportunity to expand on my digital learning instruction arose at the district level. I stepped out of the library and into an amazing partnership as part of the district Digital Learning team. You can't take the library out of the librarian, so I am thrilled to still be on the search for tools and ideas (and great books) to help engage and encourage students' creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and confidence.
