Making Your Mark! Makerspaces in Middle School

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Our goal is to show how we have used digital tools in two different settings to create makerspace/choice activities for students. We will show video of our students at work and explain our lesson formats. We would then allow time for participants to try out the digital tools in different centers. We use the following tools: Adobe Spark, iMovie, Sphero, Blueprints, 3D printing and woodworking. We would have student samples of the woodworking, but all other experiences we would let teachers experience in the session.

  • Diversity We feel that giving students experience with problem solving, working collaboratively and experience working with digital tools is the best way to prepare our students for success in the future. We strive to level the playing field for students of color or girls in the areas engineering and creating. We would share this philosophy and practice with the participants in our session and support them as they explore with the digital tools.
