"Bring Your Device for this Hands-On & Interactive Workshop"

If there was one lesson that was learned during the pandemic-induced transition to remote learning, it was the need for students to be acclimated to the necessary digital skills that will make them successful going forward. Through Tier 1 funding from NCDPI, Wayne County Public Schools was able to leverage Learning.com to teach digital skills and the NC Digital Learning Standards to their students. Now in our third year of implementation, we have expanded its usage to supplement CTE instruction, digital citizenship, and online safety.

The district started and found success in using pre-built digital playlists that teachers could easily assign. From there, teachers were able to build and implement their own customized curriculum. One of our teachers, Brenda Elam-Coney, started using Learning.com during the pandemic, and has now integrated it into her middle school CTE classes. She is using it as a learning tool to enhance the blended learning environment, and will demonstrate how she is able to use it in the rotational and flexible learning models with all types of learners.

The session attendees will receive sample logins to access Learning.com. During the session, participants will explore the features of the platforms. Also, participants will follow along with Mrs. Elam-Coney as she demonstrates how she uses the platform in her keyboarding, computer applications, and coding classes to assist students in transferring their learning of the newly learned digital skills to other areas of their lives with greater real-world application simulation and embedded problem solving throughout this digital learning experience.
