Digital FlipBooks... Using Google Slides to create GIF short stories

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Participants will take part in learning how to use google slides for something other than creating presentations. During this session, participants will learn how to integrate technology with ELA standards by creating GIF short stories using Google Slides. Using the concept of flipbooks and google slides, participants will develop a short story and create the short story in google slides. Then using a program entitled “tall tweets,” the slides will be exported as a GIF. These GIFs will then be shared with all participants within the session through a shared Wakelet page.

Other similar projects that can be created using google slides will be highlighted as well, with the goal of demonstrating how a widely available tool like Google Slides can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom with a broad range of grade levels and ability levels.

  • Diversity This concept is not just available for those with google slides but also can be accomplished using Keynote and PowerPoint, meaning that everyone that has access to one of these programs can accomplish these types of projects. The best part of projects like this is that they can take on whatever characteristics the instructor wants them to. They can be open to any topic; they can focus on a specific standard, it can be about an awareness topic, it can focus on a specific subject, it can be a form of assessment and many others. The subject of diversity and equality will be addressed in the presentation and supported during the activity. While highlighting other projects that can be done using google slides, they will be shown black history month posters that were previously made, social media awareness posters, and others.
