Many of our school districts have taken advantage of Google Workspace for Education accounts for teachers and students, but most teachers and students do not take full advantage of the features these accounts offer. Google for Education's Applied Digital Skills offers online lessons, coursework, and more on an incredible range of topics from all content areas, from technology how-to lessons and digital citizenship to if-then adventure stories and planning community service projects. I will introduce Google for Education Applied Digital Skills, demonstrate the variety of lessons avaialble, model the account creation and student sign-up process, and show teacher data tracking tools and other resources available. I will then provide guided practice to help teachers set up their accounts, create classes, prepare to add students, select lessons, and be ready to use Applied Digital Skills in their classrooms.

  • Diversity My goal is to make my content applicable to anyone who is in my session, from experienced technology users to beginners looking to try something new. With clear explanation, real-world examples, and guided practice, I ensure that all attendees gain something that they can take back to their school or classroom. By presenting a variety of alternatives (price, difficulty, format, etc.), attendees can evaluate options and choose which option would best fit their ability level, budget, school environment, and other factors. Before, during, and after my sessions, I make myself available to attendees by posting helpful information and a copy of my presentation, responding to questions and help requests via email, and staying after the session has concluded for any questions and assistance. Finally, I design my sessions to be relevant to all attendees, regardless of background, experience, grade level, content area, school demographics, or any other factor; those who attend my sessions will feel welcome, supported, and receive relevant information that is immediately usable in their role.
