Using Nearpod, I will engage the audience (intended for K-12 ITFs) in exploring the structures I have in place to provide support in my school building. I have a virtual office that houses instructional resources and professional development. In my virtual office is also a bookings link that allows teachers to schedule time to meet with me. Using these structures, I am able to provide a higher level of support to my staff.

  • Diversity The structures I use in my school support diversity, equity and inclusion through teacher choice. The staff I support can reach out to me in a variety of ways ensuring their individual needs are met. Materials are presented in a variety of formats from newsletters, videos, and face-to-face sessions allowing teachers to access materials that meet their learning style and needs. I use a booking service to allow teachers to book one-on-one time with me or to invite me to come to their grade level and work with their team. At my school, we have a Mandarin Immersion program which has challenged me to consider how I provide support to the teachers from China who may not speak English as a first or second language. The video tutorials I have built and curated in my virtual office allow these teachers to have me with them at all times, and the booking service allows them to get time with me when they need that extra support in person. ITFs support a diverse staff with a variety of needs. We also have to differentiate our content for our intended audience, our teachers. Knowing that each member of our school community is unique in what they need, the more ways we can offer support, the more our teachers will have what they need to be successful in the classroom and continue to be willing to work with us.
